Why has my online payroll account been put on hold?

When your payroll account is on hold, you should see the "Your account is on hold, contact us" message when attempting to run payroll or contractor payments. Then, you have an email with the subjectImportant: Urgent issue with the payroll account for [Business name]. Review the email to know the details behind the hold and submit all necessary documents.

 

However, if you see a similar message in your payroll product but have an email with the subject Payment request for failed payroll debit, your account may be on hold for insufficient funds. It can happen when the debit for your payroll or tax payment is returned due to an issue with your bank account. To resolve this, check your email for wire transfer instructions. Once completed, the hold will be removed within one business day.
