NEW FOLLOW UP QUESTION: (system will not allow me to reply to the original thread): Are you sure about this? I think you're not understanding the point of my question. Typically, any paychecks that fall on a national holiday are run the day before. July 4, 2025 fell on a Friday, but since it was a holiday (Independence Day), the paychecks were paid on THURSDAY July 3 instead. This upcoming year, January 1, 2027 will also fall on a Friday. Since January 1 is ALSO a national holiday, wouldn't it be pushed back one day to THURSDAY December 31, 2026? Meaning we end up with 27 paychecks for 2027. I'm asking because I want to know the official (and accurate) stance from Quickbooks on this, so employees can plan accordingly. ========================================= ORIGINAL QUICKBOOKS REPLY (probably incorrect): The paycheck on January 1, 2027, will not automatically move from QuickBooks to Thursday, December 31, 2026, because it will follow on your payroll schedule. Let me share additional information regarding this. If your employees' bi-weekly pay period starts on the first Friday or another early day in January 2026, they will receive 26 paychecks with the final paycheck dated December 18, 2026. You can also confirm this by reviewing their pay schedule. After the final paycheck is issued, it will be included in next year's payroll. Please don’t hesitate to comment below if you have any questions about QuickBooks. -NerbynMaeI (EMPL) QuickBooks Team ========================================= ORIGINAL POST: If so, the extra paycheck in 2026 may force some employees to lower their percentage contributions in order to NOT max out their 401k before the last 12/31/26 paycheck.
