Will QBO payroll file an Indiana State Unemployment tax return when tax due is $0?

My 2020 Q4 SUI liability is $0. In Payroll Tax Center > Filings > Archived Forms and Filings, the UC-1 form for Q4 and UC-5 for full year are not listed. Why?

Will QBO payroll file an Indiana State Unemployment tax return when tax due is $0?

Follow up - description of my payroll support call.

I requested a call back at 910am (10 min. after opening).  I got a call back within 2 minutes (5 was promised).  The agent, “Meeka”, was very helpful.  I learned that tax forms are not made available on the customer-facing website until 35 days after end of period, even though the completed forms are visible to the support and back office teams before the due date.  This delay, 5 days after the due date, is so that QC can check the forms for accuracy, to avoid penalty and amendment.  For example, the IN WH-3 and UC-1 filings will be available to me on Feb. 5.  I think she said the WH-1 return will be available 5 days after its due date.

The check date for WH-1 is about 10 days earlier than the due date.  This is system-chosen and cannot be changed by a Full Service Core payroll user.

Yes, Don317. I want to make sure this is taken care of.

Our QuickBooks Payroll Support team will be your number one resource for this. I'd suggest reaching out to them so they can further assist you with filing the forms. Here's how to contact them:

  1. Go to the Help icon at the top to display the QB Assistant window.
  2. Then, select the Talk to a human menu and enter the issue/topic.
  3. Next, click the I still need a human button and select the Contact us link.
  4. Choose to Message an agent for real-time assistance or Get a callback.

Also, check this article to learn more information about compliance with state payroll tax regulations: Indiana Payroll Tax Compliance.

Will QBO payroll file an Indiana State Unemployment tax return when tax due is $0?

The Indiana Tax Compliance page is very helpful, but needs updating.  For example, the INTax website (for withholding tax) has now been replaced by INTIME.  More importantly, the compliance page states re: UC-1 form
"Send Methods Available in QuickBooks Online Payroll
Filing Methods - Signature-ready form to be printed, signed, and mailed to tax agency.
Payment Methods - Check"
A) This conflicts with the state requirement to enter data electronically on the DWD website - and to pay electronically.
B) It conflicts with the claimed product feature of QBO payroll that unemployment tax is handled electronically.  https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/usa-state-forms/taxes-and-forms-we-file-for-you/00... says:

"If the form is listed here, it will be completed and filed by Full Service Payroll:

TAX TYPE SUPPORTED FORMS
Withholding   WH-1, WH-3
Unemployment    UC-1, UC-5A"
----
I will certainly follow advice to contact payroll support ASAP.
