CARES Deferred Tax

Hello,

I am working for a client that has limited payroll, and does not want to defer the payment of Social Security tax due to the CARES Act. I have seen a number of threads on this topic; however, I have yet to receive see a  sufficient response. In any event, I simply do not want to defer the employer portion of Social Security, I want to pay it outright. How do I go about getting this accomplished?

CARES Deferred Tax

Hi there, @Mathwiz.

I can see how challenging this process is. I can guide you to the right support about handling your client's tax liability.

There are things to be considered before having tax liability adjustments since your client wants to pay it in a full amount. This needs verification of the account which requires privacy and special tools. Here's how to contact our Customer Care Team through QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern in the box, then select Continue.
  4. Choose how you want to be assisted, either chat with us or get a callback.
  5. Follow the on-screen instruction.

I don't want you to go empty-handed, I'd like to recommend these articles:

These can show you more details about the deferral payments for Social Security and how it alters payroll
