Let me help you get around your concern, AP-Sports.
For now, we're unable to change or incorporate the Massachusetts COVID Recovery Assessment rate in QuickBooks Online.
You may want to log in to your UI Online account instead. From there, you can see the updated contribution and pay the tax. Or, you can also visit your state agency's website to know more about the Adjusted 2021 UI and COVID-19 Recovery Assessment Rates.

That reply to the question is not much help to the person who asked it, I'm afraid. Does QuickBooks intend to add the Massachusetts COVID Recovery Assessment Rate in a future payroll update (they definitely should) and, if so, when is that update anticipated to be available? This new assessment item has been known about for some time, so I'm surprised that QuickBooks still hasn't added this to the payroll item list via an update. There's some time urgency to this, as filings are due in August.
Hi there, CJAC.
Thanks for joining this thread. I'm here to provide some additional info regarding the Massachusetts COVID Recovery Assessment rate.
I can see why having this rate added is important for filing purposes. I'll do my part and pass this along to the Product Development Team. Product updates are often the result of user feedback like yours. You can keep an eye on your email and the Firm of the Future site for information regarding updates and feature releases.
Please let me know if you have any other questions in the mean time. I'll be here to help in any way that I can.
I use quickbooks desktop, and have created a new chart of account item called Covid recovery assessment and gave it a acct number near the DUA liability items to put the expense. I do a journal entry to record the expense which I got from filling out the DUA website. Then to a record the payment, I stumbled upon a way to manually to record all the different items I pay to MA DUA. on one check. I just hope I remember next qtr what I did. It made for a single check that included all the DUA items paid.
I am wondering how and when QB's payroll is going to address the issue generally?
Thank you for the prompt response, Morgan, and for passing this along to the Product Development Team. I'm sure all QuickBooks payroll users with Massachusetts payroll filings will be grateful when that update arrives.
I am having the same issue! Since this items is going to be around for quite some time, I would hope that QB Desktop (and online) can get this set up in a payroll update for everyone with MA payroll. Manual entry leaves too much room for error!

I am now trying to do the setup in quickbooks and do not know how to do since the wizard does not show up again. can you help? What kind of tax is this considered if I enter into the payroll items?
