Due to the Covid-19, we are having to refund for travelers. I have noticed that Quickbooks is charging more fees for refunding then when it was first deposited.

Due to the Covid-19, we are having to refund for travelers. I have noticed that Quickbooks is charging more fees for refunding then when it was first deposited.

Hey, thegarys. I understand this can be confusing, there's a lot that goes into how our processing fees are calculated.
 

When you process a card transaction the fees can differ depending on how it's done. For example:

  • If you swipe a card, the fee will be lower than if you processed it as an e-invoice or keyed it in.
  • If you key it in, the processing fee will be higher as opposed to if you swipe it or do it as an online invoice.
  • If you email your customer an invoice and they pay it this way, the processing fee will be higher instead of if you were to use a card reader, but lower in lieu of keying it.

So if you refund a customer it will process that transaction at the keyed rate. This should explain why the fees are larger compared to when you originally did it.
