How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

Hi,

I got a PPP loan in early May for my business through Quicken/Intuit.  I see lots of information on how to "prepare for forgiveness" etc, but no actual process to do it.  I found the form, but where do I send it, and what documentation do I include?  Will Intuit reach out to me with some kind of instructions?  I did a lot of searching, and simply cannot figure out the process.  Any insights here?

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

Hello, Jim.

I appreciate taking the time to read all the documentations and articles regarding the PPP topic. I have the details regarding the loan forgiveness process, and how we can handle it.

In your original post, you've mentioned that you've gotten the loan through Quicken. If you use that program, you can contact their support for instructions regarding the loan forgiveness.

Otherwise, if you've received the loan through QuickBooks (QuickBooks Capital), you'll be getting instructions from us regarding the forgiveness process. The form and documentation will be sent through QuickBooks Desktop. Though, we're going to make this possible in the coming PPP updates.

We're still waiting for instructions and guidance from SBA (Small Business Administration). Once we received them, we will send updates on how to submit the forgiveness application for your PPP loan.

In the meantime, I'd recommend signing up for updates regarding the PPP process: Paycheck Protection Program. Click the Register now button, enter your email and select your product. Then hit Submit

If you'd like to know your covered period and forgiveness estimate, you can visit the PPP Center. Simply click the Employees menu in QuickBooks, then choose Payroll Center. Find and select the PPP notification to open it.

If you have other questions about your loan, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop support.

I'd also suggest reading this article if you need help tracking your PPP loan: Track how you use your Paycheck Protection Program loan.

Just sit back and relax in the meantime while we're making the PPP forgiveness process easier for you. If you have follow-up concerns regarding QuickBooks Desktop or your payroll service, please let me know. I'll spring into action and help you out.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

Thanks for checking this with us, jimr451.

You will submit the PPP forgiveness form to your Lender or whoever is serving your loan. On the other note, documentations for your PPP Loan Forgiveness Application must include documents verifying your payroll, full time employees, and non-payroll expenses.

All you need to know about the PPP forgiveness are discussed in this article (You can scroll down to How do I apply for forgiveness): Paycheck Protection Program loan forgiveness.

Feel free to comment below if you have further questions. I would appreciate the opportunity to help you with your concerns.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

I've already read all those documents.  I contacted "Cross River Bank", and they said:

"If you applied through Kabbage or Intuit/Quickbooks, they will send separate instructions for their loan servicing"

So will I be getting some kind of instructions?  Is there an address or phone number to contact someone?  Where do I physically send the form and documentation?  The documents do not discuss that.  I have no idea who to contact or how to proceed.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

I'm with Jim. I'm grateful for the loan, and trying to follow all the rules and apply for forgiveness as soon as possible.

The SBA website says the application must go to the lender, which is listed on the Promissory Note as Cross River Bank.

I signed in to my account online, and it told me I had to open QuickBooks and select the PPP Notification in the Payroll Center. That took me right back to the intuit.quickbooks.com website, where I started. Searching for PPP forgiveness led me to the Forum, where I finally found this discussion, the only thing that refers directly to applying for forgiveness.

I have the 3508EZ form all filled out, and all of my documentation saved as a .pdf. I just need to know where to send it.

I have registered for updates, so now I guess we just wait. I hope we hear from someone soon.

Sincerely,

Mardeen Gordon

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

How could this get flagged as "Solved"? Intuit's advice is to sit back and relax?!

I'm in the same situation. Cross River Bank is not accepting forgiveness applications. I've spent countless hours on this already and when I finally got through to the SBA yesterday they said that they were aware of  Cross River Bank not accepting peoples forgiveness apps but that there was nothing they could do about it. Nada. And my deadline for filing is tomorrow, on 7/8. The SBA rep also confirmed that they have no plans for extending the 2 month window to apply for forgiveness, so I'm pretty much screwed at this point. Their final suggestion? "Call your congressional representatives." When I explained to her they are on a 2 week break, she simply said, "I'm sorry sir but there is nothing more I can do for you."

If anyone has any updates on this situation, I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

Ditto. And they say to contact QuickBooks Desktop, but I am using QBO, so there's that as well. Everything has been so easy-peasy getting the loan, estimating costs, etc., just not how/where to actually send in our forgiveness documentation.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

This is appalling that we are receiving no help or instructions on sending in the loan forgiveness application. Quickbooks needs to step up to the plate and immediately address this situation so their customers are not stuck with these loans. I also have everything ready to send in the application. I tried chatting with a rep today and they kept referring me back to the article on loan forgiveness. I kept telling her that I had read the article and it did not give any address or email to send in the forgiveness application. We took this loan in good faith and want to file the forgiveness application in good faith and are getting no help for Quickbooks.

Shameful.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

FYI, I don't see "PPP notification" under Payroll Center.  I have 2020 Desktop Pro 2020 R7 version which is the latest.  Looks like Quickbooks is working on the forgiveness form submission feature, so I will wait for now.

Simply click the Employees menu in QuickBooks, then choose Payroll Center. Find and select the PPP notification to open it.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

As of this moment, it is impossible to apply for PPP forgiveness through Quickbooks Capital.  I will be contacting the SBA to report this as  other recipients of the PPP funds through this lender have done.  I'm not sure how QB Capital became qualified as an SBA lender and were allowed to give PPP loans, but they must have to follow some requirements regulating the forgiveness process.  Repeat, it is currently IMPOSSIBLE to apply for loan forgiveness through this lender even if the time period for spending funds has passed.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

Hi,

I also applied and received PPP loan thru Quickbooks.  My 8 weeks are up August 1, 2020 and I am no longer receiving updates on loan forgiveness!  Is quickbooks going to offer this service or did they just offer the loan and we are on our own to figure out all the bureaucratic BS to get the loan forgiven?

Would appreciate a response if anyone has an answer for me

Thank you

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

A little bit of info - seems like Congress is still debating the "forgiveness" part of the PPP - so it's possible that nobody is actually getting loans forgiven yet.  See this article:

https://www.repairerdrivennews.com/2020/08/03/news-briefs-ppp-loan-forgiveness-for-auto-body-shops/

There's still talk about simplifying the form even further, etc.  I also see mention of 10 months to apply for forgiveness.  So perhaps that is why the delay.

Still awful that QB isn't communicating anything.

Let me provide you information about this, Lisa2020.

The SBA has released two loan forgiveness applications.  A standard version available for use by all borrowers seeking forgiveness, and EZ version available to borrowers that meet certain criteria. You can apply for loan forgiveness through the Government website.

Please refer to the latest guidance from SBA and Treasury and the related Instructions for Borrowers to confirm current program rules. For more information, please read this article: Paycheck Protection Program Loan Forgiveness.

To know more about who qualifies for the loan. Here is more information:  Paycheck Protection Program.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

The form says "and submit it to your Lender"

If we got a loan through Quickbooks Capital, WHERE do we send the application?  Email or physical address?  That's the most important piece of information we need, and it doesn't seem to be anywhere.

Where do we send the application if the loan is through Quickbooks Capital?   That's the most critical piece of information, and you aren't telling us that. All this time, and still,

Email or physical address please.  No more links to articles or generic forms.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

I'm going to go ahead and jump in here and clarify something. Quickbooks is saying to apply for forigiveness through the SBA, but here's what the SBA is stating:

"To apply for forgiveness of your Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan, you (the Borrower) may use the Form 3508EZ
application or complete this application as directed in these instructions, and submit it to your Lender (or the Lender that is
servicing your loan). Borrowers may also complete their application electronically through their Lender."

The lender is QUICKBOOKS. So we're being thrown around in a circle here. Quickbooks get your act together and provide the forgiveness application in your platform ASAP!

Thanks for sharing the details with me, @novembersky95.

I want to get this address right away. To apply for the forgiveness, you can use the standard version application available for all borrowers. Once done, you can now submit the application.

For the complete details and guidelines about the process, I got you this article that you can use for reference: Paycheck Protection Program loan forgiveness.

I’m also adding these resources that you can read to learn more about the Paycheck Protection Program:

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

Hello there, Still1.

When filling your loan forgiveness application, you'd want to consider when you have received your PPP loan. Also, you may submit your forgiveness application before the end of your Loan Forgiveness Covered Period.

You can visit the PPP Center to see your covered period, get a loan forgiveness estimate, and access your loan agreement, payroll, and non-payroll reports which will be used in applying for loan forgiveness. Just click here and select the Sign In drop-down. Select your product and enter your credentials. Below the page, you can also see how the PP loan forgiveness works.

How do I actually apply for PPP forgiveness?

Hello, @joey16.

Let's make sure that your QuickBooks software and payroll tax table is updated to the latest version. This way, you'd see the PPP loan modal under your Employees' menu. I can guide you on how to do it.

First, let's update your QuickBooks software. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Choose the Update Now tab.
  4. Mark the Reset Update checkbox.
  5. Click Get Updates to start the download.
  6. On the Update QuickBooks Desktop popup, select OK.
  7. Wait about 5 minutes for updates to download to your computer.
  8. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.
  9. When prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

Once completed, let's update your payroll tax tables. This is to make sure that you have the most current and accurate rates and calculations for supported state and federal tax tables, payroll tax forms, e-file, and e-pay options. It also ensures that you can check the status of your PPP loan forgiveness application.

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Select Get Payroll Updates.
  3. Put a check in the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  4. Select Download Latest Update.
  5. A window appears when the download is complete.

If the issue persists, you can run the Verify and Rebuild tool. This helps identify and resolve any data damaged related-issues in the system. You can learn more about updating the tax table through this article: Get the latest payroll tax table update.

On the other hand, you'd received a confirmation email if your PPP loan application is received and approved. Also, you can check the status of your application by signing into QuickBooks and visiting the QuickBooks Capital dashboard. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Choose Payroll Center.
  3. From here, you'll see Your PPP Loan section.

You can read through this article about submitting PPP application and checking its status within QuickBooks: Start your application for a Paycheck Protection Program loan within QuickBooks Capital.
