I was so happy to see that I was pre-approved for my PPP loan, then Intuit had one more question -- was I a Citizern, Legal Permanent Resident, etc. I am a Legal Permanent Resident (I've lived in the US for 20+ years with my husband who was born here). Intuit then declined to continue processing my funds citing that they did not have resources to process the additional paperwork. I was pre-approved and they don't want to handle the paperwork. No one mentioned this in any way prior to this, and now it's too late. They essentially blocked my access to federal funds. What can I do?
Good afternoon, @n8378s.
Thanks for joining this thread.
After you've submitted your Paycheck Protection Program loan application, we'll contact you via email once we have an update for you.
You can manually check the status of the loan by accessing the Capital dashboard from within your books. In QuickBooks Online, you'll see the option called Capital, which can be used to access QuickBooks Capital and view the status of any loan application that was submitted through there.
For more information about the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) application, you can check out this article: Start your application for a Paycheck Protection Program loan within QuickBooks Capital.
If you have any more questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to comment below. Have a safe and productive week ahead!
We received the same message last night....that there were additional documents required and QuickBooks could no longer process our application. My husband is a legal resident of the US for 25+ years and only recently has applied for citizenship during the lockdown when he had more time. I could not find any Information online requiring legal residents to submit additional documentation. Has anyone else - who is a citizen received this message?
I am super frustrated with QB because they called me a few weeks ago to say they needed more info for my PPP application. I told the person on the phone “I’m not sending more info because I found someone else to process my application”... they went ahead anyway and did whatever they did. Anyway, my application with my other bank was rejected because I was already allocation an SBA approval number last Thursday! Tonight I got an email from QB saying I was preapproved, and had to provide more info. I answered the citizenship question and got the same message as you all got... so they basically screwed my business.
I don’t even know if they submitted to the SBA but I assume they did and they have blocked me from getting funding from my other lender...
I am so upset right now. My business is doomed thanks to quickbooks.
Hi there, Benny Olsen. Thanks for bringing this question to the Community, we're here to help.
If you're receiving an email update about your Paycheck Protection Program application advising that Intuit is in need of additional documents to move forward with processing your request, you'll want to get this information to us as soon as possible. This will help us to get your app out of the pending status it's currently in. Without all of the required documentation, your application won't be able to move forward.
If you have any other questions, I'm just a post away. Have a good day!
Hello: I already answered the question about legal residency. That is what was the required "additional information" needed. I have been a legal resident of the US for over 25 years. How can I find out the status of my application? The QB "Capital" link I'm receiving is as follows"
"We've stopped taking applications for the Paycheck Protection Program.
We do our best to support as many customers as we can. However, we are unable to accept new applications right now. If you have already applied for a Paycheck Protection Program loan through us, please double-check your account credentials. Log in with the same credentials you used to apply to see your current application status."
Does this mean that my application has been can canceled because I am a legal resident? Can someone please answer this simple question? THANKS!!!!
Hey, Benny Olsen.
Perfect, it sounds like you've got us everything we needed. If there's anything else we're in need of to get your application moving forward, you can rest assured that Intuit will reach out to notify you.
Applicants who applied for the Paycheck Protection Program through QuickBooks will receive email updates about their loan application, so I recommend keeping an eye on your inbox for any communication from us in relation to it. All status update emails will go to the email address that was originally entered while applying.
In regard to what QuickBooks Capital is advising you, that doesn't mean that your application was cancelled. If you were able to successfully submit one, it's currently pending and any updates will be communicated through an email to you. We only cancel PPP applications at an applicant's request, so you'd have to contact us requesting cancellation, otherwise it will move forward as normal. What it's advising is that we're no longer accepting new Paycheck Protection Program applications at this time, which is accurate.
Feel welcome to reach out to me if you have any additional questions. I'm here to make sure you get the answers you're looking for.
This reply from QB makes no sense. We are all US Legal Residents. We all got the “preapproval” email from QB. We were all asked to answer one single question... are you a US citizen, US legal resident, etc etc. We all answered US legal resident. We all then got a message that said “we are unable to offer you a loan today”. It also said “we do not have the capability to collect and process the additional information the SBA need to approve applications for noncitizens. Please go (lists SBA standard site) to find another lender”.
So why would you keep an application active while telling applicants we are denied and we should go elsewhere??
I also reached out via chat this morning and you guys have created quite the cluster of confusion. If you applied for an SBA loan for any of us, and its still live, we are precluded from getting an approval anywhere else! I tried to find out if you ever got a loan # allocation, but I wasn’t successful in really understanding who is rejecting the application... the chat people said the SBA rejected my application, but they couldn’t have rejected it that quickly when I answered the question on citizenship because the rejection was from QB!!
I would like to know how far these applications went in the SBA system because I have someone else working this for me, and he is telling me I have a loan # allocation. If you guys got a loan # and now you are screwing us all over because we aren’t US citizens!!
Please explain the exact situation. I know my message is long, but I’d like you to review and understand the entire thing before responding with a less than useful reply. We are all running out of time and you have gotten in the way....
That is exactly what happened to me!!! Same scenario - it is so frustrating. I managed to get Quickbooks to withdraw my application and that way my other lender was able to submit it and I got a number. Thank heavens!. I was so worried that the delay and mess up by quickbooks would mean that I would miss out on this second round.
So, please, can you verify that non-citizen, legal residents still qualify for the PPP through QuickBooks? The initial message on the "Capital" link page indicated that more documentation was needed that QB could not supply to the SBA and so our application would not be processed. Can you please check to verify that my application is still being processed? I desperately need to know where I stand, as my business accounts are handled by a credit union that does not issue SBA loans, so QB is my only hope to receive these funds.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I received this from QB on Sat. 5/2
We cannot support Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan applications for businesses established
on or before June 30, 2019 that did not begin payroll with Intuit until January 2020. You may
still be eligible for a PPP loan. Please visit
htt ps:// www .sba.gov/ paycheckprot ect ion/ find to find another authorized lender.
I then pursued going through my bank to apply. Yesterday, 5/5, the loan officer from my bank informed me that a PPP application for my company had already been submitted.
So, what do I do? Did QB submit an application for my business or not? I cannot figure out how to check on the status of my PPP loan. I also think that QB is not clear here and that it has caused me and my bank to waste a lot of time.
Maybe someone from QB can follow up with me to clarify what is going on here.
Thank you for stopping by the QuickBooks community. I just sent you a private message so we can further discuss your account in private. I look forward to chatting with you there.
Thank you and have a nice evening.
So happy for you... I keep being told that they actually have a loan number for me which is blocking anyone else from applying on my behalf. But after a chat on Tuesday morning, and a promise to escalate the issue, and get back to me within a few hours, I've heard nothing. My other bank tried again today, but it is still blocked. I honestly don't know where to go with this because QB should withdraw applications they won't support before telling us to go elsewhere!
Oh and I don't even get the courtesy of a response from the dude who said we should post our questions here.... he seems to be giving private counsel to others. So frustrating. I am moving my book-keeping from QB asap unless they figure this out...
Never got a message from you.
Yesterday and today I spent HOURS with your chat support... and got absolutely nowhere. I am still blocked. I even emailed the CFO of Intuit this afternoon, she didn't respond either.
I am beyond disappointed with the situation I have been put in by Intuit. My other lender was on standby all day waiting to process my loan, but I couldn't get QB to cancel the application to clear the way. The money will for sure run out and I will now not get the PPP I need to save my business. I am frankly appalled by the support provided and the urgency given to helping small businesses survive. I am not a Citizen, but my son and my husband are. I am here legally and yet I wasn't able to get the loan the SBA approved for me because QB didn't invest the resources to support the program. They just wanted to take their cut of the fees and to hell with the needs of the small business owner.
I plan to find a lawyer, and to take this to the press. I am so disappointed...
We are in the same boat. I was rejected due to my permanent resident status, which should not at all be a reason for rejection, and now our loan application is hung up because we are not cleared out of E-Tran. This means that the bank that is now helping us can't submit our application to the SBA. We're left in complete limbo and need to have this resolved asap!
I'm in the same boat - hours on the phone this week, first a pre-approval email and then a rejection because of my permanent resident status.
Can someone please contact me to give me confirmation that our loan cancellation request will be taken care of today please?
Benny, the response from QB to this questions makes no sense. I'm in the same boat - we can't get our loan because QB is holding up the process in Etran, yet I can't get the laon with QB because I happen to be a permanent resident in this country. It appears that the bank that QB works with for this process automatically enter the main application as the "owner" of the business, and rejects any non-us citizens, but seriously, doesn't actually know what it means to be a permanent resident. They actually told me that if I had a social security number I was an american citizen -ha! Then they asked me to upload my US passport - haha!! Unfortunately 25 american jobs in our little non-profit could be lost because their Executive Director is a greencard holder of 20 years.... Mindboggling....
I do want to place a shoutout to QB customer service team in general - while I have received no solution and this mistake by QB capital could cost us $230K, everyone I've been in touch with has tried to help and wait times weren't that bad. I appreciate the help I've gotten but it's hard to be grateful when you are not able to get a loan after initial pre-approval due to an mistake in loan eligibility "programming" by the lending institution!!
Thanks for stopping by the Community, I'm here to help however I can. What I suggest you try in the meantime is, apply for the loan from an outside lender. Below, I'm providing a link to the SBA website, there you can find a local vendor in your area.
If you have any other questions at this time, you can post them down below.
Thank you for your time and patience. Have a nice evening
Yeah you need to hurry up and get QB to withdraw your applicatoin and find someone else as fast as you can!! Before the money runs out,
I escalated the same issue up to the CFO of Intuit because I thought my “connections” in Silicon Valley might actually make this bizarre company do the right thing, but no. I wasted more time with someone from the “office of the President” who didn’t seem smart enough to understand the severity of the situation and ended up in exactly the same place...
So quickly (like tonight) get your application withdrawn, and even before you do that, figure out someone else who can process your application asap!!
Wells Fargo are a waste of space... Square Capital are apparently good although I only have news reports to go by. I used Harvest Small Biz Financial and they were AWES. OME and got my application approved within an hour of my (final after 2 days) cancellation with Quickbooks..... I wish you luck, Their processes were clearly set up for their own convenience and NOT to help their customers.... I am moving my business to Xero this week.
One of the lenders is working on a solution to assist with foreign ownership. It is not yet available but they said they will require all of the details of the individual. May we know which country are you from?
