Set up your team to track time

Learn how to set up your team’s permissions so they can track billable time to clients.

Let your team track their time directly in QuickBooks Online Accountant. Add your team members as employees or suppliers, give them the right permissions, and have them track their own time.

Step 1: Add your team to QuickBooks Online Accountant Payroll

Add your accounting team to QuickBooks Online Accountant Payroll.

Step 2: Add team members and check permissions

Set up your team as employees or suppliers, so you can create timesheets and track their hours for them.

If you want them to be able to track their own time, add them to your team list. This gives them permissions so they can enter timesheets for themselves.

View and update permissions on your team

1. Go to Firm hub , select Manage users, then select Users (Take me there).
   Note: If you are using the old experience, select Team.
2. Select the team member you want to give access to, then select Edit from the Action column.
3. From the Roles section, select the dropdown ▼ and select the level of access your team member needs.
   Note: Select View role descriptions to know more about firm access roles.
4. Change the Firm users permission:
   1. From the Access to your clients' QuickBooks section, select Edit from the Action column.
      Note: If a role has not been assigned to the client, select Assign access from the Action column.
   2. Select the Standard all access role from the Select a role ▼ dropdown and select Save.
5. Select Save changes.

Step 3: Track time

Track and manage your team members’ timesheets in QuickBooks Online. Or you can also let them track their own time.
