About Click Maps
by Intuit• Updated 4 weeks ago
A Click Map shows you where people click in your email campaign. It presents this data right on top of your design, so you can quickly see what’s working. Compare how different links performed on desktop and mobile, then drill down into the details to find out exactly who clicked what.
In this article, you’ll learn about Click Maps.
Things to know
- This feature requires you to turn on click tracking in your email.
- Make sure you're familiar with the different types of data that an email report can contain. To learn more, check out About Email Campaign Reports.
- Device-specific Click Map data is available for emails sent after February 2021.
How it works
When you turn on click tracking for an email, we collect information about how people interact with the links in your content. Your campaign report breaks this down in several ways, including a visual tool called a Click Map.
Your Click Map gives you an at-a-glance way to compare link performance based on location, design, and other factors. For example, if you notice that call-to-action buttons draw more attention that text or image links, you might decide to use them more often.
Sometimes, link performance depends on the type of device a contact used to read your email. To account for this, we offer a way for you to compare and contrast desktop clicks versus mobile clicks.
How to read a Click Map
When you open a Click Map, you’ll see your email with click totals and percentage amounts next to all of the links in your content. Each percentage represents the amount of total campaign clicks that a specific link received.
Next to your email is a Click Summary that includes some high-level click data for the overall campaign, as well a list of all the URLs in the order they appear in your content. If you want to see additional click stats for the campaign, click View More.
To take a closer look at how a specific link performed, click its percentage on the map or its URL in the summary. This will bring up its Link Details, which includes the full URL, Total Clicks, Unique Clicks, and a link to a list of all contacts who clicked on the link.
And if you want to see if link popularity changes based on how contacts viewed your email, click the Desktop and Mobile tabs for device-specific data.
