Find out how to resolve missing data and blank or empty company file after restoring your backup in Quickbooks Desktop Point of Sale.
Below are the possible reasons these issues occur:
- A new file was created and opened in QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.
- You may have multiple files and opened an incorrect file.
- An older backup is restored. A back up file will contain only data from up to the time it was created.
- File is hidden or not displayed.
Important: Before you open a file or restore a backup, ensure to display hidden files and folders or search for files using Windows. |
For blank, new, or incorrect file
- Choose File > Company Operation.
- From the Start Company window, select Open Existing company.
- From the drop-down menu, choose the correct company file then select Next.
- Verify that the file opened is correct.
For incorrect backup file restored
- Choose File > Company Operation.
- From the Start Company window, select Restore from Backup and then select Next.
- Select Restore from default backups (if file was saved in the default location) or Browse to alternate backup file (if file was saved in a different location.)
- Select Next. Check if the data file is correct.
If you have already restored the correct file and the transactions were already transferred to QuickBooks Desktop, you can follow these steps to avoid the transactions from being duplicated if you run a Financial Exchange:
- In the appropriate history listing (Sales History, Receiving History, Cost Adjustment History and Quantity Adjustment History), select the re-entered transaction.
- Select the I Want To menu and choose Show Financial Details.
- Select Mark this document as successfully sent and select OK. This will prevent transaction duplication in QuickBooks Desktop.
