- Make sure you’re familiar with how to build your brand kit before you use Creative Assistant to create brand-specific designs.
Create designs
Creative Assistant automatically opens to the Create Designs tab. Each time you create a new design, you’ll select your marketing goal, provide text for headings and buttons, and choose images.
If you have a Mailchimp website or landing page, or have used another website URL to build your brand assets, Creative Assistant will generate designs from your brand kit. If you haven’t yet customized your brand kit, you can choose from our starter brand designs.
To create a new design in the Creative Assistant, follow these steps.
- Click Content, then click Creative Assistant.
- If you haven’t yet linked a website URL to your brand kit, enter the URL and click Import My Brand.
- Click Create New Design.
- Click the radio button that best fits your marketing goal, then click Next.
- Add your Heading, Subheading, and Button Text, then click Next.
- On the Choose your imagery step, add up to 4 images.
- Click Generate Designs. Creative Assistant will instantly create designs for you based on your brand and preferences. You’ll have the option to see more designs, change your brand’s personality, and more.
- Hover over a design you like, then click Select Style.
If you don’t see a design you like, click More Designs to see other options, or click Create New Designs to start over. - On the Choose Channels page, use the checkboxes to refine the channels and sizes for your design applications. Click + Add Custom Size to provide your own image dimensions.
- You can animate, edit, download, or change the file format of your design.
- Animate
Slide the Animate toggle to the checkmark to use an image that changes. - Edit
Click the edit icon to change the heading, subheading, colors, images, logos, and buttons. Click Shuffle Layout to display more than one image. Click Save. - Download
Click the download icon to export the design and use it outside of Mailchimp. This option is available if you have a Standard plan or higher. - File type
Click the arrow next to the file type to select a different file format.
- Animate
- Click Save To Design Library.
- Name your design set, then click Save.
Save designs
The Design Library tab in Creative Assistant is where your saved designs are kept and organized. You can search your designs by name, display them by last updated or alphabetically, and see each design's image size.
Click the three vertical dots on a design to replicate, edit, resize, or delete it. Accounts on a Standard plan or higher can download designs to use outside of Mailchimp.

- Click the image you want to use. Creative Assistant will remove the background of the image.
- In the Select New Background side panel, click any tab to change the background and create a new image.
