Registration of QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale causes the error:

Error 176103: Unable to activate the product

This error is usually caused by one or more of the following:

  • Incorrect system time and date
  • Incorrect validation code
  • Damaged entitlement files
  • Incorrect license number

Note:

  • Do not use hyphens or spaces when entering validation code.
  • Contact Technical support if you need to verify the validation code.

Solution 1: Check the computer's system date

From the system tray

  1. On the system tray, right-click the time or date and select Change date and time settings.
  2. From the Date and Time window, select change date and time.
  3. Update your computer's time and date.

From the Control Panel

  1. On your keyboard press Windows+R to open the run command.
  2. Type in control, then select OK to open the Control Panel.
  3. Select Clock, Language and Region.
  4. Select Date and Time.
  5. Update your computer's time and date.

Solution 2: Delete the contents of the Intuit Entitlement Folder

  1. Go to C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.
  2. On your keyboard, press CTRL+A to select all files in the folder and press Delete.
  3. Open QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale and complete the registration process.

Note: You may need to Display hidden files and folders or search for files using Windows or check the Microsoft Website to follow this solution.

Solution 3: Perform a clean reinstall for QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale
