SOLVEDby QuickBooksUpdated November 03, 2022

Learn how to create bundles by bulk in QuickBooks Commerce.

QuickBooks Commerce is no longer available for purchase as a stand-alone product.
The features referred to in this article are only relevant for customers who still have QuickBooks Commerce bundled with their QuickBooks Online subscription.
If you want to learn more about e-commerce accounting features that are part of QuickBooks Online, check out Accounting for e-commerce FAQ.

Do you need to create multiple bundles at a time? Use the Bundle Converter tool so you can quickly and easily create as many bundles as you want. Here's how.

Note: The Bundle Converter tool turns existing variants into bundles. When you turn an existing variant into a bundle, you can only select other existing variants as part of the bundle. If you don’t want existing variants to turn into bundles, create a new variant first.

Step 1: Download the CSV template

Use the template from QuickBooks Commerce to convert your variants into bundles. Here’s how to download it.

  1. Go to the Inventory menu.
  2. Select the Bulk Manage dropdown, then Bulk Convert to Bundles (Beta).
  3. Select Proceed to converting my bundles.
Note: If you’re not familiar with the process, make sure to read the page first.
  4. Select the Generate CSV template, then wait for the process to finish.
  5. Select Download CSV Template.

Note: If you need the list of SKUs in your inventory, select Generate SKU cheatsheet, then Download SKU cheatsheet to download it.

Step 2: Fill out the CSV template

Enter the variant you want to convert into a bundle, then add the variant/s you want to be part of the bundle.

  1. Open the CSV file you downloaded.
  2. Enter the bundles you want to create.
    • Parent SKU column: Enter the SKU code of the variant you want to turn into a bundle.
    • Child SKU column: Enter the SKU code of the variants you want in the bundle.
    • Quantity column: Enter the total quantity of the Child SKU.
      Here’s an example:
  3. Go to the File menu, then select Save.

Note: Remove all non-bundled variants from the CSV file before you upload it back to QuickBooks to avoid overwriting your stock.

Step 3: Upload the CSV template into QuickBooks Commerce

After you fill out and save the CSV template, upload the file to QuickBooks Commerce to start converting variants to bundles.

Note: QuickBooks may take a few minutes to process the file, depending on its size. If it’s too large to upload, you can divide it into multiple spreadsheets of 500 rows each.

  1. In QuickBooks Commerce, drag and drop the CSV file into the box. Or, select browse for a file, then select the file you want to upload.
  2. Select Continue, then wait for it to finish.
  3. Confirm the changes in the summary report, then select Start the Import.

After you upload the CSV template, QuickBooks converts the variants into bundles. Then, it automatically calculates the quantity of the bundle based on its variants.

  1. Read the summary report.
  2. Select Download the CSV containing errors, then read the details of each error.
  3. Open the CSV template, then make the changes you need to fix the error.
  4. Save the CSV template, then try to upload it again to QuickBooks.
