SOLVEDby QuickBooksQuickBooks Point of SaleUpdated 3 days ago

Find out what to do if you can't sign in to QuickBooks Point of Sale.

If you can't sign in to your QuickBooks Point of Sale system as an administrator, don't worry. Here are a few ways to get back in. And if you still can't sign in, we'll also show you how to reset your password.

If you just need to change the password for one of your workers who's not an administrator:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Point of Sale as an admin (SysAdmin).
  2. Go to the Employees menu and select Employee List.
  3. Select the employee you need to change the password for. Then select Edit Employee.
  4. Select Change Password.
  5. Ask your employee to enter and confirm their new password. Then select OK.
  6. Select Save.

Ask your employee to sign back into QuickBooks Point of Sale with their new password.

Solution 1: Check your password

  • If your password contains numbers and you use a keyboard to enter it, make sure Num Lk is on.
  • If you can, enter your admin username and password into a word processor. Check the case and spelling. Then paste them into the username and password fields on your QuickBooks Point of Sale system.

If you still can't sign in, move on to solution 2.

Solution 2: Sign in with a generic account

  1. Open QuickBooks Point of Sale.
  2. Use SYSADMIN as the username.
  3. Leave the password field blank.
  4. Select OK.

If this doesn't work:

  1. Use SYSADMIN as the username.
  2. Enter the password you normally use for your admin account.
  3. Select OK

If you still can't sign in, move on to solution 3.

Solution 3: Reset your password

If your username and password still don't work, you can do a hard reset. Keep in mind, this permanently deletes and replaces your old password.

When you're ready to reset your password:

  1. Select this link to reset your password.
  2. Select the QuickBooks Point of Sale option.
  3. Fill out the fields to reset your password.
