Use the accountant view in QuickBooks Time

Working in accountant view grants you full administrative access to your clients' QuickBooks Time accounts. To access to your client's accounts, you can either set up an account for your client, or your client can send you an invite from their existing account.

Access exception: You will have only view rights to Schedule.

Set up your client's company in QuickBooks Time

If your client does not yet have a QuickBooks Time account, you can get one started for them.

  1. In QuickBooks Time, select your name.
  2. Next to Client Access, select MANAGE.
  3. Select Add Clients, then Create client account.
  4. On the form, enter your client's basic information.
  5. Review the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, then select Agree & Create Account.
  6. You will be guided through company setup, then you can your client to QuickBooks Time. They will receive an email to get started in their account.
  7. To get back to your account, select Back to my account.

Have your client invite you to their QuickBooks Time account

If your client already has a QuickBooks Time account, they can invite you into their account.

  1. Your client will go to Company Settings, then Accountant Access.
  2. Enter your email and name, then select Send Invite.
  3. You will receive an email, inviting you to create a QuickBooks Time PRO account, or sign into your existing account.

Switch between accounts

  1. In QuickBooks Time, select your name.
  2. From the Client Access drop-down, choose a client, and select Switch. Notice that your company name has changed to the client's company name.
  3. To return to your QuickBooks Time account, select Back to My QuickBooks Time.

Remove access to a client's account

Before removing a client's account, make sure your client has primary admin permissions. If not, you need to transfer primary admin permissions to them before you can remove them.

  1. Switch into your client's account.
  2. Go to My Team and, next to the admin you want to transfer permissions to, select MoreChrome_More_Button.png.
  3. Select Make Primary Admin.

Then, you can remove your client's account.

  1. In your QuickBooks Time account, select your name.
  2. Select MANAGE.
  3. In the Client Access window, find the company you want to remove and select the X.

Grant accountant view access to a team member

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to My Team and select a team member's username.
  2. Select the Permissions tab, select Manage client accounts, and select Save.
