About Prohibited Content

by Intuit Updated 2 months ago

Mailchimp has millions of users all over the world, and we have an obligation to maintain a reliable marketing platform for those customers. We have policies in place to help prevent abuse of our services, and protect both our users and their contacts.

In this article, you'll learn about prohibited content in Mailchimp.

About the Acceptable Use Policy

Our Acceptable Use Policy is included in our Terms of Use, and provides information on prohibited content and related industries that aren't allowed to use Mailchimp. We maintain these guidelines to protect Mailchimp as a service.

For more information, refer to our Acceptable Use Policy.

If you still need help to determine if your business or product is okay to market through Mailchimp, contact our Compliance team.

Prohibited content

We don't allow any content to be distributed through Mailchimp that violates the law, markets illegal products or services, or is sexually explicit. We do allow affiliate links to be used in Mailchimp, but not to denylisted URLs.

Prohibited industries

Certain industries tend to create content that generates high levels of abuse complaints, which can severely damage Mailchimp's reputation and impact the reliability of our services.

The industries listed in our Acceptable Use Policy are prohibited because of the content they distribute, and not how the business itself is run. This policy is meant to keep risky content from being distributed through Mailchimp, not to keep you from using Mailchimp for your business.

For example, it's not okay to use Mailchimp to market "work from home" opportunities, but it is okay to use Mailchimp to market for your business that you run out of your home.
