Learn how to add, use, edit, and delete currencies in QuickBooks Commerce.

If you buy and sell your products in different countries, you can add different currencies in QuickBooks Commerce. This helps your customers and vendors view prices in their local currency. Here’s how.

Set up a currency

Step 1: Add a new currency

Before you can use a foreign currency, you need to add them in QuickBooks first.

  1. Go to ⚙️ Settings, then select Configuration
  2. Select the Currencies tab, then select New Currency
  3. Select the Currency ▼ dropdown, then select the currency you want to use.
Note: After you select a currency, QuickBooks automatically sets the ISO code, symbol, and exchange rate. But you can still edit them if you want to.
  4. Select the Exchange Rate ▼ dropdown, then select the exchange rate method you want to use.
Note: If you want to use the latest exchange rate, select the refresh icon.
  5. Select Create.

Step 2: Create a price list for the new currency

QuickBooks doesn’t automatically convert the prices of your products from the base currency to the new currency. If you want to use the new currency in a transaction, set up your product’s price list in that currency.

Step 3: Use the new currency on a sales or purchase order

Once you create a price list, you can now use the new currency in your sales orders or purchase orders.

  1. Create a purchase or sales order.
  2. Select the Currency ▼ dropdown, then select the currency you want to use.
  3. Select the price list you want to use.
  4. Enter the item/s that you want to buy or sell.
  5. The price or cost automatically updates if it's already included in the selected price list. Otherwise, enter a price or cost for the item.
  6. Select Create.

Manage your currencies

If you have outdated currencies, you can edit them to use them again or delete those you no longer need. Here’s how.

Important: You can’t delete the base currency and you can only edit it to fix typos.

Edit a currency

  1. Go to ⚙️ Settings, then select Configuration
  2. Select the Currencies tab.
  3. Select the currency you want to edit, then Enable Edit Mode.
  4. Make the changes you need, then select Save.

Delete a currency

  1. Go to ⚙️ Settings, then select Configuration
  2. Select the Currencies tab.
  3. Select the currency you want to delete.
  4. Select Delete, then OK.
