Create and review your certified payroll report in QuickBooks Online Payroll

Find out how to create your federal certified payroll report (WH-347) in QuickBooks Online Payroll. Use the WH-347 to report prevailing wages for any publicly funded federal projects your employees work on.

Before you begin

  1. Make sure you’re set up to run certified payroll reports. 
  2. Add your employee’s time to your project using the QuickBooks weekly timesheet (not the Time app workflow). Include the project name and hours for standard time (ST) and overtime (OT). 
  3. Run your payroll for the period you need to report. 

Step 1: Create your certified payroll report

  1. Go to Reports Icon image of the Reports menu., then Standard reports (Take me there). 
  2. In the search field, enter certified payroll report.
  3. Select your pay period and project.
  4. Select Download spreadsheet. 

Your certified payroll report will be generated in a spreadsheet. 

Step 2: Review the details of your report

Make sure to review each section of your report for accuracy and compliance. 

  • General project and pay period info 
  • Worker-specific data, including job classification, hours and rates for standard and overtime, and spelling of employees’ names and Social Security numbers. 
  • Fringe benefits and deductions. Make sure your fringe benefits are paid as cash-in-lieu or as contributions to a bona fide plan. 
  • Gross wages and final pay

Step 3: Complete the report

You’ll need to manually enter some info on the report before you can send it in.

  • Project ID
  • Wage Determination Number
  • Certified Payroll Number
  • Worker entry number
  • Add any payment in lieu of fringe benefits to 6B. Make any corresponding adjustments to fields 7B and 9. 
  • Apprentice/Journeyworker info 
  • Review and sign the Statement of Compliance
