by Intuit• Updated 1 year ago
Learn how to change the way QuickBooks Desktop connects to QuickBooks services.
When QuickBooks Desktop performs certain tasks, such as processing credit card transactions, it connects securely to our systems. You can decide if QuickBooks connects automatically or requires a password each time.
Note: This setting doesn't apply to bank feed or payroll connections.
Step 1: Switch to single-user mode
If you haven’t already, switch to single-user mode so you can change the connection setting:
- Sign in to the QuickBooks company file that you want to change the connection setting for.
- Go to the File menu.
- Select Switch to Single User Mode.
Step 2: Change the connection setting
- Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
- In the Preferences window, select Service Connection in the left menu.
- Select the Company Preferences tab.
- Select the connection option you want: Automatically connect without asking for a password or Always ask for a password before connecting.
- Select OK to save the change.
Now that you're done, you can switch back to multi-user mode.
