Learn how to pick, pack, and fulfill sales orders in your QuickBooks Commerce.

In QuickBooks Commerce, you can edit the statuses of a sales order. This gives you a better overview of the items ordered by a customer. Here's how.
Step 1: Pick a sales order
Pick a single sales order
- Go to the Sales Order section, then select Orders.
- Choose the Sales Order that you would like to generate a pick list for, then select Finalize to change the state of the Sales Order from Active to Finalized.
- To generate your pick list, select the ▼ dropdown menu next to the Order #. Then, select Preview Order Pick List. Or select Preview, then select Preview Order Pick List.
You can print or download this for you or your staff to collect the required materials and bring them to your packing station.
Pick multiple sales orders
- Go to the Sales Order, then select Orders.
- Choose the Sales Order that you would like to generate a pick list for, then select Finalize to change the state of the Sales Order from Active to Finalized.
- From the Bulk Actions ▼dropdown menu, select Picklists.
This will generate a bulk picklist. You can print or download this for you or your staff to collect the required materials and bring them to your packing station.
Pick a sales order partially
- Go to the Sales Order, then select Orders.
- Select Finalize to change the state of the Sales Order from Active to Finalized.
- Select the ▼ dropdown arrow next to the order #, then select Preview Order Pick List.
This will generate a pick list. You can print or download this for you or your staff to collect the required materials and bring them to your packing station.
Step 2: Pack a sales order
Note You can only pack a Sales Order if its state is Finalized. Sales Orders that come into QuickBooks Commerce from a sales channel integration will automatically be in a Finalized state. |
Pack a single sales order
On the Sales Order, select Pack All.
When you mark a Sales Order as Packed, it creates a shipment. You can see this in the Shipments section within the Sales Order.
Pack multiple sales orders
Once you’ve picked and packed all of the variants in their respective boxes, select the Bulk Actions ▼dropdown menu to change the status of the Sales Orders to Packed.
When you mark multiple Sales Orders as Packed, it creates multiple Shipments. You can see this in the Shipments section within the Sales Order.
Pack a sales order partially
Once you have partially collected some of the orders, you’ll want to pack them.
- Select + Manual to partially pack a Sales Order.
- Create a new Shipment. Hover over each cell in the Qty To Pack column and arrows will show so you can adjust the quantity. To manually adjust the quantity, double-click the number and enter the desired value.
- After you created the correct partial shipment, select Create.
- Once created, you can review the status of the Shipment.
Step 3: Fulfill a sales order
Your shipping/fulfillment process will vary depending on whether or not you do so manually or use a shipping solution like ShipStation, Amazon FBA, or a 3PL provider.
Fulfill a single sales order
- To change the status of the Shipment to Shipped, select Ship All.
- To review the history of a Sales Order, select Show History under the Shipments box.
Fulfill multiple sales orders
You can choose to change the status of your Sales Orders to Shipped. Select each sales order to ship them individually, or select the Bulk Actions ▼ dropdown menu to ship them in bulk.
Fulfill a sales order partially
Select Ship to change the status of the Shipment. The Shipment will change the status to Fulfilled.
Pick, pack and fulfill the remainder of the Sales Order. Go into the Sales Order in question and complete the pick, pack, and ship process.
To review the history of a Sales Order, select Show History.
