Get ready for a new shipping experience in QuickBooks Desktop
by Intuit•22• Updated 1 week ago
Learn about the new and improved shipping experience in QuickBooks Desktop.
We’re updating QuickBooks Desktop’s shipping experience to provide enhanced security, greater convenience, and more choices for managing your shipments, all from within QuickBooks Desktop.
What's changing in QuickBooks Shipping Manager?
We’re moving to a brand-new interface for all your shipping needs within QuickBooks Desktop. This updated and more user-friendly experience makes shipping easier.
When is this happening?
We’re working to bring you the new experience soon. Until then, you can keep using the current shipping experience which stays available until the new feature launches. For more information on the release date, check back here.
Why are we making this change?
We want to provide a more secure shipping experience using OAuth (Open Authentication). OAuth grants other shipping carrier applications limited permission to access your data on their service, based on what you approve. This authorization protocol helps your main account credentials stay secure.
What are the benefits?
- Enhanced security: Your data's safety is important to us. The new shipping experience features advanced security measures to protect your login credentials and other data.
- Seamless shipment tracking: Track all your shipments directly from within QuickBooks Desktop, without switching between platforms. This simplifies your workflow and keeps you informed every step of the way.
- Browse and compare rates: Browse and compare shipping label rates from different carriers in one place.
- Expanded carrier options: Choose from a wider range of shipping carriers to find the best rates and services.
What to do next?
- Update QuickBooks Desktop
- If you have QuickBooks Desktop 2022 or older: Upgrade to QuickBooks Desktop 2024 to use the new shipping features.
- If you have QuickBooks Desktop 2024: Update to the latest release of QuickBooks Desktop 2024.
- Download your shipping data
Download your shipping-related data before moving to the new experience. This includes shipment date, customer contact details, tracking number, transaction reference, estimated shipping charges, carrier service you’ve opted for, and cash on delivery (COD) details (if any).
Once the new shipping experience is available, we’ll remove the old shipping tool and all the info related to it. However, you can access shipping-related tasks, like voiding labels, directly on the carrier's official website.
Here’s how to download your shipping data:- In QuickBooks Desktop, go to File, then select Shipping.
- Select the carrier you want to download a shipment details for:
- For FedEx data, select FedEx Shipping Options.
- For UPS data, select UPS Shipping Options.
- For USPS data, select USPS Shipping Options.
- Select Track or Cancel a Shipment.
- Select the date range for which you want to download the shipping data.
- Select Report, then select Print.
- In the print preview window, select Save as PDF as your destination or printer.
- Select a location on your computer to save the PDF file. Then, select Save.
- Repeat these steps for each carrier (FedEx, UPS, and USPS) and for any additional date ranges to create a complete record of your shipping history.
- Move to the updated Shipping Manager
After you download your latest shipping data, set up the new Shipping Manager to continue shipping from QuickBooks.
