How state sales tax works in Mailchimp
Sales tax requirements for software services like Mailchimp vary from state to state. If a state recognizes any of our products as taxable, we’re required to collect sales tax. Mailchimp determines your location based on the primary contact address saved in your account, and collects tax accordingly. Any tax that we collect is ultimately reported and paid to your local tax authority.
Request tax exemption
Some nonprofit and government organizations may be exempt from sales tax. If you believe your organization qualifies for tax exemption, you'll need to provide the documentation required by your state. Each state has its own requirements for proof of tax exemption.
