Upload, Add, and Edit Images in Emails and Landing Pages

by Intuit3 Updated a day ago

If you’ve using the new email builder, some of the steps in this article may not apply. To learn how to use images in the new builder, check out Use Image Content Blocks in the New Builder.

Mailchimp makes it easy to upload, add, and edit images in your email or landing page, so you can customize the look of your marketing content.

In this article, you'll learn how to upload, add, and edit images in your email or landing page.

Before you start

  • Image requirements vary by layout, template or design. For more information, take a look at our image requirements.
  • Themes templates for email are predesigned, so some images and content blocks can't be changed.
  • When you upload an image to the content studio, we change the file name to a unique identifier that can't be duplicated or changed.
  • The content studio supports JPG, JPE, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP image files.
  • Using images in text-based content blocks may affect the look of your designs when viewed on mobile devices. Whenever possible, we recommend placing images in image-based content blocks instead.

Upload an image

When you upload an image, we save that file on our servers. The steps to upload images to your designs vary slightly, depending on the type of content block you're using.

Upload into an image content block

The drag-and-drop editor offers a few types of image-based content blocks, including Image, Image Card, Image Group, and Image + Text. These instructions explain how to use images with any of these types.

  1. In the editing pane, click an image content block or drag and drop a new image content block type into your layout.
  2. Click Browse or Replace to open the content studio.
  3. Choose how to upload your image.

  4. Click Save & Close.

After you insert your image, you can customize the settings on your image content block, add alt text, go back to the content studio to edit the image, or replace or remove it.

If your images are named and formatted correctly on your computer already, you can drag and drop them straight into Mailchimp.

Drag and drop a single image into an image content block, or open the content studio and drag a few images to upload in batches.
