If you have automatic updates turned on, QuickBooks will download updates for you. But you can check for updates manually at any time.
Release 7 (R7) - December 2022

Issue fixes / SDK | SDK version 15 schema support in QBDT 2020 along with new tags put in place with SDK 15 and 16. |
Release 6 (R6) - November 2022
New 1099 |
- Changes made to let payers set the calendar year on the new 1099 NEC & MISC forms.
- For 2022, the FATCA Filing Requirement checkbox is Box 13. To accommodate, boxes 13–17 from the previous year are 14–18 on this 1099 MISC form as per IRS requirements.

Move to QuickBooks Online from QuickBooks Desktop |
- Your favorite reports in QuickBooks Desktop now display as favorites in QuickBooks Online.
- Your banking rules will losslessly move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

Payments Receipts compliance | Additional fields in the Print customer copy of Intuit processed payment receipts for Money Transmission Licenses (MTL) compliance. (Enabled late May) |
Assisted Payroll 401(k) | You can setup a Guideline 401(k) from within QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. Forms are preset with employee/company info. Contributions are sent automatically to Guideline with no extra steps for you. Only available in QuickBooks Desktop Assisted Payroll (enabled late June). |
Intuit Account and Direct Deposit | Follow the prompts to sign in with your Intuit user ID to replace the Direct Deposit PIN for payroll. Notifications will appear in the Payroll Center or after running payroll. |
Enterprise subscription | The Enterprise subscription dashboard can also be found in the Discovery Hub. |
Release 4 (R4) - March 2022
Approval workflow for bills and purchase orders | With the new release, customers can sync the rejected status from the approvals dashboard to the bill and purchase orders. |
Issue fix | Fixed an issue where admin changes to draft/rejected transactions will show in reports. |
Issue fix | Fixed an issue when you copy a draft/pending/approved/rejected transaction, the approval status doesn't copy. |

Human Capital Management (HCM) | Intuit has partnered with Guideline to offer an affordable, fully integrated 401(k) plan in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. Setup a Guideline 401(k) from QuickBooks Desktop payroll with easy onboarding steps as the forms are pre-filled with your employer and employee information. Once setup, run payroll with your new contributions. The info and contributions are sent automatically to Guideline, so there’s no extra steps for you. Guideline 401(k) is currently only available in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Assisted. We’ll add it to our other QuickBooks Desktop Payroll products soon. |

Intuit account sign-in | • Intuit sign-in screens won't use Microsoft Internet Explorer. • Improved Intuit account sign-in prompts to explain the value of an Intuit account for use with different features and services.

Issue fix | Fixed an issue with company files missing company names. When opening a company file, a prompt will appear to add the company name if missing. |
Credit card expiry notification | Introduced notification of credit card expiration dates. This guides users to update their credit card information. |
Audit trail of transactions | Implemented an audit trail for approval transactions, and introduced customizable purchase order approvals workflow. |
Bill Pay service | Customers can pay their bills directly from their Vendor Information window using Bill Pay powered by Melio. Non admin users with accounts payable and banking permissions can pay bills using the Bill Pay service. |
