Fix error "Transaction not allowed" in QuickBooks Point of Sale

Learn what to do if you get this error when you're processing a credit card payment.

If you see the message "transaction not allowed" in QuickBooks Point of Sale, don't worry. It just means the payment type isn't turned on. All you have to do is change your settings.

Turn on payment types for QuickBooks Point of Sale

  1. Go to the File menu and hover over Preferences. Then select Company.
  2. In the Sales ▼ section, select Receipt Tendering.
  3. In the Card Types section, select the checkboxes for the card options you want available. Then select Save.

Now you can continue processing credit card payments in QuickBooks Point of Sale.
