Register QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

Learn how to activate or register QuickBooks Desktop after you install.

After you install QuickBooks, you need to register it before you can open your data. QuickBooks will prompt you to register when you open, but you can also register it manually with these steps.

To register QuickBooks:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. From the QuickBooks menu, select Register QuickBooks.
  3. Enter the License and Product numbers, and select Next.
    1. You can have your license and product numbers emailed to you if you can't find them.
  4. Select how you want to register:
    • Register by phone:
      1. Call the number provided on screen or contact us.
      2. Enter the validation code provided and select Next.
    • Register online:
      1. Sign in to your Intuit account or create an account.
      2. Create a customer account (or select an existing one).
        • You’ll need to provide company and contact information if creating a new customer account.
      3. Select Save & Next.
      4. Select a payment method or Add new to set up auto-renewal.
      5. Select Save and auto renew.
      6. Review the Confirmation screen and additional available actions.
        • Select Print or Save as PDF to keep your Product Information on hand.
        • Rate your QuickBooks Desktop activation experience!
        • Select Start using QuickBooks to close the window.

Now that your registered, you can use your QuickBooks.
