2021QBPro+w/payroll

Hi  I have moved to the hosted platform (Cloudwalks) and they have installed my new software on the server.  It is completely empty with no company data.  I have 2021 QB Proplusw/enhanced payroll.  I need to move QB2018 from my local computer and get it up and running on the new software which is on the server.  Any suggestions?

I’d be happy to guide you on how to move your 2018 QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to your new 2021 QBDT Pro plus software. All we have to do is to back up your 2018 company file and restore it in your 2021 QBDT. Ensure to set up your 2021 correctly for a smooth process.

Once ready, you can now back up your company file:

  1. Go to the File menu and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Navigate to the File menu again and hover over Back up Company.
  3. Select Create Local Backup.
  4. In the window, select Local Backup and then Next.
  5. In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and select where you want to save your backup company file.
  6. This runs a test to make sure your backup file is in good shape before you save it.
  7. When you're ready, select OK.
  8. Click Save it now and then Next.

You can also check this article for more details about the process: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Once done, open your 2021 QBDT and restore your 2018 company file

I’m also adding this resource that can walk you through the steps in running your payroll effectively: Get started with Payroll.

In case you have other clarifications or questions about moving your company file, you can always tag me in your reply. I’m more than happy to work with you again.
