An error was encountered when uploading data to quickbooks online

Hi there, cuveewinetours.

I'll make sure that you'll be able to upload the data to your QBO account.

Are you trying to your data from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online? If so, we have an open investigation about that issue. We received several reports from our customers that they encountered an error upon trying to migrate from Desktop to Online. Our software engineers are aware of this and informed us that the migration will continue in spite of the error, and after a few minutes, the data will be available in QBO.

Let's try to wait for data to sync into your account. If it's still not showing after an hour or two. I recommend reaching out to our technical supports so that we can pull your account and run a series of tests to rectify the issue. You can follow these steps to connect with us:

  1. Click the Help icon.
  2. Hit Contact Us.
  3. Enter "Error when migrating from Desktop to Online/INV-41539" in the description.
  4. Select Let's talk.
  5. Choose Start messaging.

Please check out our support hours and contact us at a time convenient to you.

If you're importing bank transactions using Excel CSV files, we'll  have to make sure that your CSV file is formatted correctly. Please know that the system will always prompt an error message if we try to upload an incorrectly-formatted file.

I've listed the different troubleshooting steps below to get rid of the error:

  • Remove the zeros from the file and leave those cells blank.
  • Correct any transactions that display a number in the Description column.
  • Remove the word amount if it appears in the name of the Credit or Debit column
  • MAC users must save the file as a Windows CSV file.
  • Correct and standardize the date format to a single format.
  • If your file contains the day of the week in the Date column (example: 20/11/2018 TUE), we'll have correct it since it's an unsupported format. Here's how:

    1. Highlight the column that contains the date.
    2. Go to Data then select Text to Columns.
    3. Follow the Convert Text to Columns Wizard, choosing the following:
      • Original data type: Delimited
      • Delimiters: Space
      • Column data format: General
    4. Select Finish.

For more information about this process, you can visit this article: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

Let me know how it goes in the comment section, as I want to ensure that you can successfully upload your data.
