Can't locate / can't read "License Data" after cloning hard drive contents onto a new & larger physical HD

Just completed an otherwise fully successful clone of the contents of my 500GB SSD onto a larger size 1TB SSD because I needed the larger storage space for a new set of vacation & family photos, etc.  All seemed to be successful excepting that QuickBooks now won't start showing this error message:
"Could not initialize license properties" [Error 3371, StatusCode -11118] QuickBooks could not load the license data. This may be caused by missing or damaged files. Click here to troubleshoot"

When I do the Click Here to get into the promised Intuit information page, I only get a "File not found" reply.

I have have a full data file backup available from the end of last successful work session because I always do this action in expectation of some HD or file fault.

Version is QuickBooks 2018 Pro installed 2019_04_20 and used successfully since then.

Re: Can't locate / can't read "License Data" after cloning hard drive contents onto a new & large...

Let's fix the error your getting while working with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @Steve at Servenger.

This error (Error 3371, Status Code -11118) usually happens when:

  • QuickBooks could not load the license data.
  • QuickBooks component or file is damaged or missing.
  • Outdated Windows Operating System (OS).
  • Opening the file without saving it first. (Right Networks and QuickBooks Enterprise with WebConnect users)

To fix the error, you can perform these troubleshooting steps in the correct order below:

  1. Delete damaged EntitlementDataStore.ecml file.
  2. Use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to fix Microsoft .NET Framework, MSXML, and C++ issues.
  3. Reinstall using a clean install.

Before doing these steps, please ensure your Windows operating system is updated. Just go to Windows, look for All Programs and click Windows Update.

If the problem continues, I'd suggest working with an IT professional or contact Microsoft to resolve possible corruption in your Windows Operating System.

Let me know if you have any other QuickBooks questions, I'll be always here to help you. Have a great day ahead!
