Can't open QB! PLEASE HELP

I've been getting an abort message, stating that a connection to my company file has been lost. I've gone through a host of processes to fix the problem, with no success. NOW, I went to open QB today and was notified that there was an update. I updated QB and when I went to open it was given a messae that the update needed to be installed. As soon as I click "yes" I get an error stating "We can't continue updating your company file, because we've lost the connection." I only have one computer that Im running QB from and the company file is on the computer and not an alternate drive. PLEASE HELP

It could be the firewall program that blocks internet access needed for QuickBooks. Let's try to configure your firewall settings first.

Please refer to this article for the step-by-step instructions: Configure firewall security settings for Desktop.

 

Once done, try opening your QuickBooks file again.

 

If you're still unable to open, please follow the steps provided in this article to fix the error: QuickBooks Desktop doesn't start or won't open.
