Can't Open QB2013 file in QB2019

I'm trying to upgrade to QB2019 Mac desktop.  My current version is QB2013.  I downloaded QB2019 trial to see if it would be able to convert the old file.  Well, it looks like it is indeed able to convert the company file, but then, it is unable to open that converted file and it gets thrown into an infinite loop.  I've let it run >1 h but no joy.  In fact, the only way to get out of the loop is to force quit the app.  What can I try?  I assume that this has nothing to do with the fact that this is the 2019 trial version, right?

You are saying the conversion completes but the file never opens?

Thanks for reaching out to us. Allow me to help ensure you're able to open your QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2019 successfully. 

 

To isolate this issue, after you converted the file from the old version of QuickBooks Mac to the new one, you'll need to save the file to the documents first and restore it. Once done, you can now update the file. 

 

To restore attached documents, here's how: 

  1. From the QuickBooks menu, select Preferences and click Attachments.
  2. Click Attached Documents Library menu and choose Select Existing.
  3. Select the Attached Documents Library folder.
  4. Close the Preferences window.
