I appreciate you for performing some solutions to get this sorted out. After installing your new version, we need to prepare your QuickBooks 2017 company file before upgrading it. Let me show you how:
Once done, QuickBooks will ask you to upgrade your company file the first time when opening it in your newer version. Just follow the steps and details in the Upgrade your company files after switching to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop article. Then, proceed to Step 3: Upgrade your company file section. If you're having trouble opening your company file on your software, see What to do if you can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop article to troubleshoot the issue.
Feel free to visit our Install, upgrade, and register page for more insight about activating and registering Intuit products.
I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Just reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.
Just to clarify your problem, are you able to create a backup file (i.e QBB) ? If it is failed, run the Verify/Rebuild Data utility.
