Hello there, @Hermansherman.

You also have the option to remove the account from the Form 1099 box through the Workers menu. Let's get started.

  1. Go to Workers menu.
  2. Choose Contractors tab.
  3. Click on Prepare 1099s button.
  4. Select the Continue your 1099s button.
  5. In the 1099 mapping screen, go to the 1099 box where the specific account is associated.
  6. Uncheck the specific 1099 box.
  7. Click Save and Close

Once completed, you can now proceed with inactivating your accounts.

Re: Cannot making account inactive? When I go to make account inactive - I get error message - "E...

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Intuit Community, @Hermansherman.

Let's get rid of the error message so you can make an account inactive.

This error can occur if an account that is associated with Form 1099 box is deleted in Bill.com. Thus, the connection between QBO and Form 1099 prevents you from deleting your account.

To resolve this issue, let's remove the account from the Form 1099 box.

Let me guide you through on how to accomplish this:

  1. From the left menu, select Expenses.
  2. Go to the Vendors tab, then click Prepare 1099s.
  3. Click Continue your 1099s
  4. Locate the account, then uncheck the box associated with your account.
  5. Click Save and finish later.

By following the solution above, you're now able to inactivate an account.

For additional guidance on how to make accounts inactive, feel free to read through this article: How to delete an account or restore a deleted account.

Should you need anything else, please let me know and I'd be glad to help.

Hi MaryLandT

Thank you for the reply.

When I go to Expenses/Vendors, I do not get the option to Continue 1099s, I only have a button to Let's get started, and a warning that the 2018 IRS deadline for 1099s has passed.

Should I use the Let's get started button? and follow your steps below?

Thank you,

Herman

Hi juVieIl,

Thank you for your suggestion.

When I get to your step 5 In the 1099 mapping screen go to the 1099 box where the specific account is associated>  I am stuck in the review screen. All I see are the individual vendors and the dollar amounts, not the accounts.  I cannot get to the accounts, accounts is grayed out.

Would you be able to give me additional instruction?

Thank you,

Herman
