Check print alignment tool apparently doesn't work with Windows 10. What's the solution?

Greetings, stevenkrogasla.

It would be my pleasure to answer any questions you may have concerning the alignment of the check.

I can see here that the attached product to your profile is QuickBooks Online. When fixing the alignment of a check, you can use the Fine-tune alignment feature within your account.

Here's how:

  1. On the left navigation bar, click Expenses.
  2. Go to the Expenses tab.
  3. Click to open the check you want to print.
  4. Click Print check.
  5. Click Print Setup.
  6. Choose the Voucher or Standard option.
  7. Click No, continue setup twice.
  8. Adjust the alignment and click Finish setup.

For additional insight with check alignment, I'm adding an article  below:

How to print checks.

Let's also make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader/Acrobat to ensure you'll not encounter any printing problems. I'm adding an article with additional insight on this:

How to update, repair, or re-install Adobe Reader/Acrobat.

I'm always up to lend a hand if you need additional assistance. You can add more details by posting a response below, and I'll be sure to get back to you.

Did you find a solution to this issue?  I use the desktop version - QB 2016 Pro with Windows 10 and the printer alignment tool does not retain the settings in its memory.

Check print alignment tool apparently doesn't work with Windows 10. What's the solution?

Hi there, @mwortmann.

I'd be happy to help share some troubleshooting steps about fixing printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop can be caused by variety of reasons, all printers are different. Below are some suggested steps to fix printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop. Before doing so, make sure that your QuickBooks is updated to the latest release and your computer is connected to the printer and that the printer software is installed.

Once done, you can try to use Notepad to determine if your printer can print outside of QuickBooks. If that didn't work you can try performing these steps:

  1. Turn off the printer, restart your computer, and then turn the printer back on.
  2. Make sure the printer paper is loaded correctly.
  3. Select the Windows Start button, browse to the Control Panel, and double-click Printers and Faxes.
  4. If the printer shows Offline, right-click the printer and select Use Printer Online.
  5. Double-click the printer and if there are print jobs displayed in the queue, choose Printer, then Cancel All Documents.
  6. Close the window.
  7. Right-click the printer, choose Properties, and click Print Test Page.

If this works, you'll need to run the QuickBooks Print and PDF Repair Tool. This tool fixes most of the common printing issues.
