Convert from Quicken 2015 to Quickbooks 2018

I am trying to convert to quickbooks 2018 from quicken 2015 so I needed to use the quicken converter tool to update but the instructions say that it will creat a new .qdf file but the converter is creating an importable qxf file that cannot be opened in quickbooks either.  Please tell me how to do this and don't send me to the link to the converter tool because it doesn't work!

Re: Convert from Quicken 2015 to Quickbooks 2018

Well my accountant finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Seems logical now but still QB should make it clearer. What you need to do is use the converter that corresponds with the QB version not the quicken version so for my and your case it would be the 2018 or the latest one they have. Then it created a file that worked just as the instructions say only I think it actually says QB17 not 18 but it did work.

Re: Convert from Quicken 2015 to Quickbooks 2018

Hello paradocs,

Welcome to the Community. I'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

When the conversion tool creates the .QFX file, it'll create the .QDF file in a folder at the same location of your Quicken file.  The file should be located in a folder named Q17Files, Q16Files, or Q15Files.

If you're not able to locate the file, please reach back out to me so I can assist.Thanks.

The quicken 2015 creates a .QXF file  (NOT a .QFX).  Quickbooks can't use that file.  No directories with a useful file are created.  Zilch.  Running a file search on the entire data drive for an updated .QDF produces nothing.  This is contrary to the "help" file on data conversion.

I am having the same problem.

No sub directory or *.qdf was created by the converter program.

That worked!  The Quicken 2015 converter was useless.  The Quicken 2016 converter created a QDF file that QB could read.  (the 2015 converter produced NO QDF file).  Thanks.

awesome! guess our posts crossed but so glad to hear my frustration in getting it too work ended up helping someone else. Just hope noone else has to figure this out. QB needs to make it more clear which year convertor to pick. Would make all this frustration unnecessary.

Re: Convert from Quicken 2015 to Quickbooks 2018

Thanks but that did not work for me. I have quicken 2016 and quickbooks 2015. The 2015 converter just says it can't convert because the quicken file is newer than 2015.

The 2016 converter goes through the motions but does not produce a sub directory or a *.qdf file.

Re: Convert from Quicken 2015 to Quickbooks 2018

I am trying to convert Quicken 2016. None of the converters work. None of them create a sub folder or a *.qdf. I have over 26 years of data. I am not inclined to just start over.
