Converting from Sage 50 using the Conversion Tool

Hi,

I am trying to convert Sage 50 to Quickbooks desktop and it tells me that it can't find sage on the computer.  It clearly is on the computer, but once I get the error it won't even let me click browse to have me select it.  Any idea on how to fix this?  Thanks.

Converting from Sage 50 using the Conversion Tool

Hi there, @carriecourt.

Thanks for joining the Community today. I'm here to help share some information about converting Sage 50 into QuickBooks Desktop.

There are few things you'll need to check before running the conversion tool in QuickBooks Desktop.

These are the following:

  • Make sure that your Sage 50 and QuickBooks Desktop are installed locally in the same computer.
  • Be sure that your QuickBooks database and Sage 50's associated files are saved locally in your computer's hard drive.
  • Cross-region conversion isn't' possible using the tool.
  • Check our QuickBooks Desktop system requirements to make sure your computer is up to date for your QuickBooks.

Once verified, you can try converting your file again. For detailed instructions about this process, you may refer to this article: Use Sage conversion tool to convert to QuickBooks Desktop.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, I'd suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Team. They have the tools like screen-sharing that can walk you through the process and verify what's causing the issue.

These resources should help you convert your data successfully.

Please let me know how it goes or if there's anything else you need concerning QuickBooks. I'm always here to lend a helping hand. Have a great day.

Converting from Sage 50 using the Conversion Tool

Hi. I am having the same issue. Specifically, "We couldn't find Sage / Peachtree...". Both applications are installed and functional. I have launched them without problem.  Is there a problem with the conversion tool?  Thanks.

Hi Hornetts,

You'll want to make sure that Sage 50 and QuickBooks Desktop are on installed the same computer before you run the conversion as mentioned by @BettyJaneB. Also, check the system requirements for the conversion tool. Here's an article for more information: Convert from Sage 50 to QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, you can successfully convert from Sage to QuickBooks without any issues: Please check out this article for the detailed steps: Use Sage or Peachtree Conversion Tool To Convert to QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any other concerns, please let me know so that I can help.

Hi Maria, thanks for your reply. Both apps were already installed on the same PC. In fact, I am using a VM. Both apps can be launched, and can access their data. It is the conversion tool that seems to be having the problem.

@Hornetts

Create a dummy file on Sage and try convert it on your QB Desktop. If the problem still persists, install the trial license of Pro 2020 or Enterprise 2020, and try convert it on one of them.

I am discovering, based on other posts that I have seen, that the conversion tool only runs on 32-bit systems. First, I'd appreciate it if that can be confirmed. This would explain why I continue to have problems. Second, if this is true, is there a 32-bit enabled version of Quickbooks Desktop that I can successfully download AND install on a Windows XP virtual machine?  Thanks.

You have to find the license, product and activation code for QB Desktop 2013 or older to run on Win XP
