Database Manager version for different client versions of Desktop Pro?

Good morning!  I have a basic question while attempting to troubleshoot a sudden issue with all company books in our enterprise on a server with Database Manager (2018)  installed.

 

So, we have client machines access various company books for our clients, with Desktop Pro versions ranging from 2015 to 2019.  We have the Database Manager installed from a Desktop Pro 2018 download from Intuit on a Windows Server 2016 box.  Are there any problems with a Database Manager installed from Desktop Pro 2018 being used to "share" QB files from a range of company files being maintained under Desktop Pro versions 2015 to 2019? Database Manager is running and all QB company folders have been added/scanned with no errors.

 

I know we SHOULD be running the same version of QB Desktop Pro on ALL machines, but can can't spend that kind of money to upgrade all of our client workstations.

When you're running multiple versions of QuickBooks, you only need to install QuickBooks Database Server Manager for each of them. It's not necessarily to upgrade the company file so you can use one QBDBSM for all versions.

 

Make sure to install the Database Server Manager for each version in chronological order, from oldest to newest. These articles below will help you set up QBDBSM correctly:

 

Also, I've seen that you are still using unsupported versions earlier than 2018. If in case you need help with the installation process or get any issues along the way, I recommend contacting our Support Team for help.   1. You must be in the Home screen to get the contact option. Once the Home page is up, go to the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen select Contact us.
  4. Click the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box.
  5. Hit Search then scroll down to get your contact options.

Another option to contact us is through the web. Here's how:

  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop then Continue as guest.
  3. Pick your QuickBooks version.
  4. The self-help topics are listed in the What can we help you with section.
  5. For live help use the Search for something else button.
