Does Quickbooks for Mac 2016 work in High Sierra

Come on, Intuit.  It's not like High Sierra was dropped on the world without notice.  You've had months to test it and answer the question.  Will Quickbooks for Mac 2016 work in High Sierra?  High Sierra is no longer in testing, so it's time to answer the question.

Before macOS High Sierra was released publicly, today, we couldn't talk about compatibility.  Now that High Sierra has finally been officially released by Apple, we can.  :-)

The QuickBooks Mac (qbMac) development team has been hard at work making sure qbMac 2016 was compatible with High Sierra development builds since Apple started releasing them many months ago.  qbMac 2016 is compatible with macOS 10.13 High Sierra.

The release of the R21 update this morning coincided with today's public launch of High Sierra from Apple.  The R21 auto-update release notes displayed when selecting 'QuickBooks > Check for QuickBooks Update' contain this sentence at the top ...

"This update is recommended for all users of QuickBooks Mac 2016 who are running on OS X 10.11 (El Capitan), macOS 10.12 (Sierra), and macOS 10.13 (High Sierra)."

... and in the bullet list of items it states this ...

    •    New Features from R20
    ◦    Compatibility with macOS High Sierra (10.13)

Please let us know if you run into any problems using QuickBooks Mac on High Sierra.  We're always interested in customer feedback.  Thanks!

2016 has worked with High Sierra for a year at least. We made it work as quickly as we could. The same is true of Mojave - we will make it work as soon as we can.  It takes time to update and test. We aren't doing anyone any favors if we release an update that isn't tested.

There should be no issue connecting to online banking. Which update are you referring to? High Sierra or QuickBooks Mac R21?  As far as the backup/disk image, yes, some people are experiencing this on High Sierra (it isn't new to R21 - it happened in earlier versions on High Sierra).  We haven't been able to reproduce that yet but if you'll send me an email and mention it is about High Sierra Backup we'll try to work with you to figure it out.

I did the QB R21 update when it was pushed and then rebooted. Since then it will not connect to Bank of America. It just sits and appears to be trying to connect. Nothing for BoA login was changed and I can't find how to remove the connection so I can try reconnecting. Today I downloaded High Sierra hoping that would help but it dd not so this is why I posted.

Yes, we have reports of the backup failing on High Sierra. Send me an email as noted - we are going to need to try to replicate the command line calls QB is making to see if it is an Apple error (i suspect it is but we may be able to work around it).  Are you both on the new Apple File System? (Select your main drive and choose File->Get Info and I thin it will say).

As far as Bank of America - that should work.  Are you using DirectConnect or downloading a .qbo file from Bank of America's site? It may be that Bank of America's server is down. I'd check (I have a BoA account) but...  my machine is being restored because of a botched High Sierra install.

I am using Direct Connect to BoA. It worked fine up to 09/20 but after R21 it would not connect. Then I did High Sierra today hoping that would fix it and still will not do DC. As to backup issues; using Disk Utility my SSD says AFPS Volume so yes its Apple File System.

I am having the same issue as Johnlshaffner.  Since upgrading to HighSierra, I can no longer create a backup and receive the same error message, cannot create a disk image.  I reverted back to Sierra and it works fine so conclusion is that QuickBooks 2016 with R21 does not backup when you upgrade to HighSierra. We updated QB before upgrading to High Sierra.  We also run Windows 10 through Parallels on an iMac.  We keep QB running in the background at all times in order to input charges throughout the day. When we switch back to the Mac environment from Windows,  QB has started popping up as the front screen rather than remaining quiet in the background.  This has never happened before.  How can we fix this?  Thanks.

Yep, we know what's causing the backup issue now and there is a work around until we can ready a fix.  For the Parallels thing my guess is that is an issue with Parallels and you likely have to update that. Glad the BoA thing is sorted, too.  BoA is working for me and I didn't have to do anything special so not sure what the issue was.

So just upgraded to high Sierra and am now having problems accessing Quickbooks 2016 for Mac desktop.  I use a server to share a file and can no longer open the shared file.  I can only open file if I don't access the server.  This only started since upgrading to high Sierra.  Very frustrating.  Please help.  I am on R21 versions for both quickbooks and server.
