It’s my priority that you’re able to install QuickBooks 2018 without getting an error messagesharon.

Error 1328 is a Microsoft error occurs when installing the software on your computer. To resolve, you'll need to reinstall the product using a clean install to fix the error.

You can check out this article for detailed troubleshooting steps: Error 1328 when updating, repairing, installing, or uninstalling QuickBooks.

On the other hand, error 1712 occurs when your Operating System is damaged or one of the core Microsoft components that QuickBooks uses is unstable and not functioning correctly. This can also happen after installing or uninstalling something which requires a restart.

After restarting, let's try to install your QuickBooks Desktop software again.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the download page: https://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/ProductUpdates.aspx
  2. Click on Change and select the product edition.
  3. On the Version column, choose 2017.
  4. Click on the Download button.

For the complete process on fixing installation errors, please check out this article: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

I'm confident this will take you in the right direction today. Please let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. I want to make sure this is taken care of.

I am having the same problem.  Why did you say to download 2017 version, not 2018?  I have another computer in my office that is running the 2018 and it is working, but I can not get it to work on mine.

Good day, @interactive,

Welcome and thanks for joining the conversation. I can add a bit more information on how to get past the 1712 error you're getting.

Let's download the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This hub contains different tools to help fix common QuickBooks Desktop errors including installation errors.

I'll walk you through the steps below:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.4.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  6. Select the Installation Issues tab.
  7. Click the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. Let the tool run.
  8. When the tool finishes, restart your computer to ensure the components are properly updated.

For the complete process on fixing installation errors, please check out this article: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

That should rectify the installation issue, @interactive. Let me know the result after the troubleshooting. I'll keep an eye on this post for your response. All the best!

Error 1326 & 1712 when installing 2018. I have a desktop account. I have tryed repairing off the disk and on the download. Won't work.

After the major Windows 10 1903 update in 2019 Quickbooks 2017 (and I'm not sure what other versions) will not install unless you give the needed Quickbooks apps permission to adjust files. I found this out by accident after trying since May to get an update and reinstalling Quickbooks after upgrading to Windows 10 1903. Quickbooks was having trouble creating a folder so I tried to create it manually. I discovered that the new security protocols in 1903 would not let me create a new folder in MY Documents until I gave File Explorer special permission to create one. After giving File Explorer and Quickbooks that permission the 2017 version installed normally.

And just what special permissions did you provide. Win 10 and now win 11 pose same problem for us. Our It dept has reload windows  clean install etc on this laptop and the error 1312 shows up with c:\ProgramData\Nuance\ GetLastError:5 and then uninstalls the installation. This is obviously a quickbooks error not a windows error and Microsoft support agrees with our IT. We could fix it if we new the install script QB is using in their instll routine. Windows error logger does not give us any help

@eschap

Which QBD year version do you have? If you are using an outdated version, try reinstalling and running it in compatibility mode Win 7.
