error 6094 and macafee

Hello, gbanker.

Here are a bunch of solutions to help you resolve the error code 6094.

It's possible that McAfee is blocking QuickBooks-related processes. In this case, you'll want to add it to your exceptions when doing something in your computer. You might want to reach out to McAfee's support channel or manual for a guide on how to do this.

Next, check McAfee's quarantine or virus vault and restore qbdmgr.exe and qbdmgrN.exe.  More details can be found here: Error -6094, 0 (6010, 2) An error occurred when QuickBooks tried to start the database.

You'll also want to repair QuickBooks Desktop. A damaged component can be a culprit for the error message. Here's how:

  1. First back up your company file if you can.
  2. Restart your computer to make sure there are no programs affecting the repair process.
  3. Open the Windows Start menu, then select Control Panel or search "Control Panel."
  4. Click Programs and Features (or Programs) then Uninstall a Program.
  5. Find and choose QuickBooks from the list, then click Uninstall/Change.
  6. Click Repair, then Next. Note: The process will take a while.
  7. Once it's done, select Finish.
  8. Update your QuickBooks to the latest release.

After repairing, start restoring the old version again to QuickBooks 2021.

When you're done, feel free to read our help content for guides and instructions on how to do a specific process in the program. Browse an article here. There are other topics found at the bottom of the page as well.

I'll provide assistance again if you have concerns or questions in QuickBooks 2021. Just post here and I'll reply as soon as possible.
