Error code 2001 - received this error while setting up direct deposit on individual employee accounts. Any ideas how to solve it without contacting QB help?

Thanks for posting again here in the Community forum, @lovebeingamommy.

Normally, error 2001 occurs when there's an issue online when sending payroll data. To help resolve the problem, I recommend updating QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release and download the latest payroll tax table update

To do manual update, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Close your company files and QuickBooks.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu.
  3. Search for QuickBooks Desktop.
  4. Right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
  5. While on the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks.
  6. Go to the Options tab. Select Mark All and then select Save.
  7. Go to the Update Now tab and select the Reset Update checkbox.
  8. When you're ready, select Get Updates.

To download the latest tax table, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Employees menu at the top.
  2. Choose Get Payroll Updates
  3. Select the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  4. Pick Download Latest Update. When the download is complete, a window appears.

Once done, try to setup direct deposit on individual employee accounts.

Keep me posted on how things go. I'm always here to help Have a great day.

I am receiving this issue today and I followed your steps but I am continuing to receive the same error after updating.  Do you have any other recommendations?

Thanks!
