Join nowHello,
I've been able to upgrade two company files, but one company file give me an error right way that says
"Something went wrong with updating your credentials, please login again to continue"
Any ideas?
Good Evening, @flya750.
I can help by pointing you in the right direction about how to upgrade your company file without any error messages standing in the way. To fix this problem, you'll need to reset the admin password on the 2014 version first and then try to upgrade it afterward. Here's how:
It's that easy. Learn more about admin and user passwords through this link. This is an additional link that can help you with your upgrade.
I'm only a comment away if you have any more questions. Happy Friday Eve!
I tried changing the password first and it didn't work.
I even used the password reset tool.
So I've tried changing the password first?
The upgrade process says its running, it does a backup and then does the upgrade.. and says FINSIHED!
Once you click on FINISHED, it crashes and says failed to upgrade credentials...
I get errors like this in the Windows Event log
An unexpected error has occured in "QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020":
Connection Error:Invalid user ID or password

Try running the verify and rebuild tool. If the error still persists, call and ask Intuit Data Service to fix it as mentioned by ShiellaGraceA. Should you need to resolve it in due course, consider purchasing a 3rd party file recovery service.
Did you ever get this resolved? I was working with QB for 2 hours and it’s still not working.
Do you need to upgrade your company file from QBD 2014 to 2020, or else?
I've been having this same problem today upgrading from QBDT 2015 to QBDT 2019. I did the rebuild and verify data, changed the password in the 2015 file and still get the same message 'something went wrong while upgrading your credentials'.
Has anybody gotten any resolve on this issue??
I appreciate the steps you've done to resolve the error message, Susanlynnmiller.
Since the same thing persists after running some troubleshooting steps, I'd recommend reaching out to our phone support team. An agent can do a screen share with you and investigate the error further.
You can contact them through the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.

You can always mention my name whenever you have questions logging into your file.
Try opening the sample file on your QBD 2015, create a backup file, and restore it on your QBD 2019.
