Re: Error when making customer inactive

Hi there, NealRM.

Thank you for posting here in the QuickBooks Community.

Since you've already verified that there are no recurring transactions for the customer, it could be your browser's cache is full. That is why QuickBooks Online does not allow you to make the customer inactive.

Let’s use a private browser to help confirm if the cache is causing the problem. Follow the steps below.

Google Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N

Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P

Internet Explorer: Ctrl+Shift+P

If the steps above work, go to your regular browsers and clear its cache.

Here's an article for you to clear the cache in your browser: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files?.

If the steps above will not work, I suggest using other supported browsers.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you succeed with QuickBooks.

Re: Error when making customer inactive

This is occurring on both the app and the browser. On different machines and on different browsers. I think something was left out of your answer, open a private window isn't going to be affected by the cache of your browser. Private windows don't use cache.

Hello NealRM,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. Allow me to chime in and help figure out why you're getting the error in QuickBooks Online.

You can review your recurring transactions in the system to ensure the customer isn't listed.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
  2. Below Lists, click Recurring Transactions.
  3. Below Customer/Vendor, review the names.

For your visual guidance, see this screenshot:

In case you want to know more about using recurring transactions, I'm attaching the article on this:

If you're still unable to make the customer inactive, I recommend reaching out to our Support Specialists this time through these steps:

  1. Log into your QuickBooks account.
  2. Click the Help option in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click the Contact us hyperlink.

I look forward to serving you to the best of my ability regarding the customers. The Community will keep an eye on your response.
