If you're experiencing the same thing, make sure to use Adobe Reader to print checks as this is the most compatible software to use with QuickBooks. If you already have one, check for updates to get the latest Adobe version.
Open Adobe Reader.
Click on the Help menu.
Click Check for Updates.
Also, in case you're using Mozilla Firefox, change the default Adobe PDF viewer. Firefox versions 19 and higher include built-in support for PDF handling that doesn't rely on external add-ons like Adobe Reader.
Furthermore, the built-in PDF handler is currently unsupported for Intuit Online Payroll and QuickBooks Online Payroll. (It may be supported at a future time.) Use these steps to switch to the Adobe PDF handler:
From the Firefox menu, go to Tools or Options.
Change Portable Document Format (PDF) to Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
