I am having the EXACT same problem.  I have been using QuickBooks for almost 20  years and this has NEVER happened before.  I did not change any settings.  Both QBKS and my Printer are set to 1 sided printing.  Yet all reports, checks, etc., keep printing double sided.  This is VERY FRUSTRATING!  Obviously some bug with a recent update.   REALLY NEED A FIX FOR THIS.

I'm running Desktop on a third party hosted server.   I have a MacBook.

Where do I access Windows Parallels to make this change?  I've changed my printer and my computer thru Chrome Printer setup.

Thanks for the help!

Hello there, @PTin.

I am here to share some information about updating your printer preferences in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

To start with, accessing QuickBooks Desktop for Windows under a windows parallel is not really advisable. This may affect the performance of QuickBooks while navigating on it. Also, there is  a specific version that is designed solely for Mac, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

On the other hand, you can follow the steps shared by @SoozeH. Here's how:

  1. Start the Windows virtual machine.
  2. Go to the top menu bar, click on Actions.
  3. Choose Configure.
  4. Click Hardware.
  5. Select Share Printer.
  6. Make sure to enable the "Show page setup before printing".

That's it! If you're having difficulty with the steps above, I'd recommend consulting  with an IT professional. They have the tools to access how your QuickBooks is set up in the Windows Parallel.

Keep me posted here in the Community if you have other questions about navigating QuickBooks. I'd be happy to help you answer your inquiries.

What is Windows Virtual machine and how do I access?

Re: This might help if, like me, you are running QB in Window...

It's good to hear again from you, @PTin.

Let me provide additional information about accessing QuickBooks Desktop via a Windows virtual machine on your Mac device.

A virtual machine is a a third-party software that allows you to access windows typed software in your MAC device. In other words, creating a computer within a computer. This allows you to continue to use your Mac computer like you’re used to and simultaneously open and run Windows applications such as QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

Since you've mention in your original post that you're currently running your QuickBooks Desktop on a third party hosted server, accessing your Windows Virtual machine depends on how was it set up on your MacBook.

For you to be assisted properly, I'd recommend contacting your company's IT professional to revisit.

Stay in touch with me and let me know how it works on your end. I'm always here to help.

So apparently there is NO solution for this???? Running Quickbooks desktop off a MacBook Pro. During one of the upgraded it started defaulting to double-sided printing. Didn't used to be an issue. And it is NOT a printer setting. This has been driving me crazy for a year, but I only do checks once a month, and it is only about every other month that I ruin a bunch of checks by forgetting to manually override the default. (Like, why the blankety blank would ANYBODY EVER print checks double sided?!?!) Like I just did.

Hey there, @Romkey.

You'll need to manually choose to print your check on one side. Let me provide additional details about this.

Checks printing double-sided is sometimes caused by your printer setup. You may need to get in touch with an IT professional to configure your printer settings.

In addition, they can help you perform the necessary changes to print one-sided checks.

Also, you may need to manually choose to print your checks on sided while consulting with a professional.

Once done, but is still printing double-sided checks, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support. This way, they can investigate this further and provide you with an immediate resolution.

Here's how you can contact them:

  1. Open your QuickBooks account.
  2. Press F1 on your keyboard.
  3. Click on Contact Us.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be around to help.
