Hello barbara454,
I'd like to help you with the printing preferences in your QuickBooks for Mac 2016.
To ensure QuickBooks can print your forms as quickly as possible, please check out the following items:
-
Spooling. Make sure spooling is activated (Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.)
-
Resolution/print quality. Lowering the resolution reduces print quality, which results in faster printing at the expense of the print quality. (If you choose this method to speed printing, print a sample to see whether the quality is acceptable.)
-
Number of fonts. Sometimes a form will print slowly if too many fonts are included. To improve printing speed, customize the fonts on QuickBooks forms to include just one or two fonts. For information on customizing fonts, search the in-product Help for fonts.
-
Font Settings. Bitmap fonts generally take longer to generate and print. To clear the bitmap fonts option in QuickBooks:
- Go to the QuickBooks File menu and click Printer Setup.
- Click the Options button next to the printer window.
- On the Finishing tab, click the Details button.
- Under Font Settings, clear the Send True Type as Bitmaps checkbox.
- Click OK, click OK again in the Properties window, and in the Printer setup window.
-
Dithering. Setting dithering to "none" will sometimes increase print speed. See the documentation that came with your printer for details on changing dithering options.
Note: Because of the complexity and the number of available printers, we are unable to provide support for specific printer issues. Please check the documentation that came with your printer or contact your printer manufacturer's technical support if you need further assistance on changing printer settings.
If there's anything else I can help you with, please don't hesitate to reach out.
