Hello, RDCElec.

Converting the QuickBooks 99 to Desktop Pro 2020 is unavailable.

We can only convert QuickBooks 2016 file as the oldest version, lower than that we can no longer transfer data to the latest version.

I will not leave you there, though. I'd recommend to try searching a third-party application that will help you convert the QB 99 to the latest one.

Also, you may want to take a look at the benefits of the QuickBooks Desktop 2020 features. This article will talk on how these features will help your business grow.

Please get back to this thread if you need more information with the QuickBooks 2020. I'm always here.

Hi @jrpci,

You'll want to create a backup company file for the 2016 version then restore it in your QuickBooks Desktop 2020. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.
  2. Choose Restore a backup copy and then Next.
  3. Select Local Back up and then Next.
  4. Browse your computer for your backup company file.
  5. Choose a folder to save your restored company file and select Open.
  6. When you're ready, select Save. Take note that if you see any messages about possibly overwriting your data, select the option that best fits your needs.

If you run into problems restoring your backup file, here's how to fix them.

Please follow these detailed steps on how to back up and restore the file in your QuickBooks:
