I am attempting to send accountnat's changes back to my clien and I receive the following error message: QuickBooks is unable to display the accountant's changes

Hi, @holmes7h.

The following are possible reasons why you're receiving this error:

  • Your Accountant's Copy restriction has been removed.
  • You're sending the changes to the wrong company file.
  • The file with pending Accountant's Changes was upgraded to a new version of Quickbooks Desktop.

You can perform the following solutions to fix this.

Solution 1: Open the correct company file.

You'll need to make sure that you're opening the exact company file where it has the pending Accountant's Changes.

Solution 2: Save the file to a local location.

  • If the company file is saved on your server, either import the Accountant's Changes to your server or copy the company file to the local drive.
  • If you're importing the Accountant's Changes from a portable drive(USB or thumb drive), copy the Accountant's Changes locally.

Solution 3: Use a different method when sending the Accountant's copy.

Send the Accountant’s changes in a different method by using either a thumb drive, email attachment or CD if you’re using Accountant’s Copy File Transfer service (ACFT).

You can also check this article link to learn more troubleshooting or solution for your concern: Resolve errors and unexpected results when importing accountant's changes.

In case you need to convert your accountant’s copy, you can check out this guide: Converting an accountant's copy to a regular company file.

none of the solutions work.

We are trying to send the changes to client, not bringing changes into the file.

all it says is "QuickBooks is unable to display the accountant's changes, please contact technical support for more help"

if the changes can't be displayed, we cannot send them, accept them or anything....

please help.

I appreciate taking the time to follow the solutions above, Vab0103.

I'll also share some steps to fix the error. You can follow the first solution on how to repair your company file using the Verify and Rebuild Data tool here: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Once done, try using the Accountant's Copy in a test file. This is to check if the problem is caused by a damaged QuickBooks installer or possible data integrity issues.

If the process is successful, then the program is working as designed, and you have to enter the changes manually. Otherwise, do a QuickBooks Desktop clean install.

You can find the information under Solution 4 and 5 in this article: Resolve errors and unexpected results when importing accountant's changes.

If you're still getting the same error after the steps above, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They can pull up your account and investigate more on what's causing the issue.

Before doing so, please check out our support hours here. Then, follow these steps:

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop program, go to Help QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question window, click the Contact Us link at the bottom.
  3. From the Contact Us page, select any topics.
  4. Under Here's how to connect with a QuickBooks expert section, click the Start a Message or Get Phone Number button.

Please keep me posted on how it goes, or if you have other concerns for QuickBooks. I'm just a few clicks away to help you some more.
