Hi jcash,

Let me help you open your company file.

This type of error occurs if QuickBooks was unable to locate your company file. You might have an unstable connection from the network where the company file is saved. Don't worry we can still access your company by locating it manually.

  1. At the top menu, click File and select Close Company. This will close the company file that is currently open.
  2. In the No Company Open window, click the Open or restore an existing company button.
  3. In the Open or Restore Company window, select Open a company file.
  4. Click Next and select Local backup.
  5. Click Next and manually locate the folder location.
  6. Then, follow the further steps to open your company file.

Let me know how this goes.

I am also having this problem; and Quickbooks will open the file when I go to it following your directions, but the next time I try and open the file I get an error message and have to manually go to the file again.

Is there a fix for when this happens consistently?  Or it related only to loosing network connection/network drive?
